Central Sq. Cambridge, MA
Here's just some quick nice shots of lights in central square on an authentic wintry night Dec. 29, 2012 taken with phone
My best shot at a holiday card ever, and I mean every word I hope you enjoy reading it, as I enjoyed writing it!
To all those whom I know within the
touch of my words and this card
It is my dearest hope that you are all
doing well
through these daring holidays, and into
the “New Year”
May it be just that for all of us who
need it to be.
For all of you who helped us get
through a very tough year, ( and years!, you know who you are!) my
gratitude
may not even be put to words.
To all those I hold in my heart Forever,
I and my whole family, both by blood and extension,
I and my whole family, both by blood and extension,
wish you happiness, safety, and your
needs fulfilled!
Therefore, in my simplest way to put
it,

My Flexible Flyer
I remember the snow
I am 11
I remember the wildness
and the quiet of the snow
and I remember
My beautiful sled
It is long,
its trim is metal
and red
I take the steel wool and
clean the rust from its slim runners
I oil the steering
it is ready
and so am I
I am on the hill
the other kids are with me
though I may not know them
we are together for the riding
I run
I throw my Flyer down and myself
upon its boards
I am speeding
I am the wind
I am
It is freedom
it is a thrill
it is so right
My Flyer comes to a turning, screeching stop
but not me, I keep going a little
the snow on my face makes me happy!
and I am ready to do it again, and again
I shiver in the cold and laugh
like a sailor on a calm northern sea
my Flexible Flyer and me
and I am ready to do it again, and again
I shiver in the cold and laugh
like a sailor on a calm northern sea
my Flexible Flyer and me

My Mother has died
My mother has died today December 7, 2012. She was a good woman, not much of a hugger but I always felt loved by her. She sat us down at the upright when my sister and I were growing up and played us all the old folk songs and we would sing along. Then she would break into some Chopin, and my favorite, the Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. I can hear the old sad... yeah they were a buncha kind of dark damn songs! There were funny ones too! I hear them even now, "When Johnny comes marchin home again, hoorah, hoorah..."
She took us to college theatre, my sister Carla and me, seeing things like The Match Maker, The Trouble with Harry, Shakespeare, art festivals, ballet, book stores, and because of her we saw Robert Frost live and reciting his poetry near the Esplenade! She taught us architecture, art, music, writing all the things we came to love in our own ways. Her late x husband E. Nelson Hayes, also raised the bar, especially on the book side. We grew up in a veritable library, books in every room in the house, and more coming everyday. Our mom was not the happiest mom, she wasn't a saint, I guess my sister could tell some things about that, but she was a cultural bad-ass. she was also clearly a hotty. "She'll be comin round the mountain when she comes..."
